Praia da Marinha
Consistently rated one of the world's most beautiful beaches, Praia da Marinha features dramatic limestone cliffs, crystal-clear turquoise waters, and iconic rock formations. The beach is accessible via a steep staircase and offers excellent snorkelling.
Praia de Benagil
Famous for the nearby Benagil Cave, one of the Algarve's most photographed natural wonders. The small beach is the starting point for kayak and boat trips to explore the stunning sea caves along this stretch of coast.
Praia da Falésia
A stunning 6-kilometre stretch of golden sand backed by striking red and orange cliffs. One of the Algarve's longest beaches, it's perfect for long walks and never feels crowded. The cliffs create a dramatic backdrop that changes colour throughout the day.
Praia de Dona Ana
Surrounded by sculptured sandstone cliffs and rock formations, Dona Ana is a picture-perfect beach with calm, clear waters. Excellent facilities and easy access make it popular with families, while the scenery attracts photographers.
Praia do Camilo
A small, intimate beach accessed by a wooden staircase through the cliffs. The sheltered cove offers calm, warm waters and a sense of seclusion. Nearby grottos can be explored at low tide.
Praia da Rocha
One of the Algarve's most famous and lively beaches, Praia da Rocha offers a wide expanse of golden sand, excellent facilities, and a vibrant atmosphere. The promenade is lined with restaurants, bars, and shops.
Ilha de Tavira
A barrier island beach accessed by ferry from Tavira. The island offers miles of unspoilt sand, dunes, and a more natural, peaceful atmosphere. The eastern end is a designated naturist area.
Praia de Albufeira
The main beach of Albufeira's old town, easily accessible via a tunnel from the town centre. Surrounded by the charming whitewashed buildings of the old town, with plenty of restaurants and bars nearby.
Beach Tips
Sun Protection
The Algarve sun is strong, even in spring and autumn. Always use high SPF sunscreen and seek shade during midday hours.
Check Conditions
Some beaches have stronger currents than others. Look for lifeguard flags and swim between the designated areas.
Arrive Early
Popular beaches fill up quickly in summer. Arrive before 10am to secure a good spot, especially at smaller coves.
Golden Hour
For the best photos, visit beaches during golden hour (early morning or late afternoon) when the cliffs glow warmly.
